The Rush is around us – people focusing on ‘things to do and to get’..and possibly not taking care of themselves…If you feel stressed out this time of year, here are a few tips from us and “Shape” Magazine!
-Meditation – It’s a powerful way to de-stress any time of year, but especially now. It helps with quieting the mind and assists you in getting out of your ‘monkey’ brain (chatter!)..The best part is, you can meditate while standing at the checkout line! Just focus on your inhale and exhale with slow breaths… If you are at home, just go into a room where there are no distractions – and sit – focus again on your breathing – and see what happens to your thoughts – if a thought comes to you, acknowledge it, and re-focus on your breath.
-Green Tea – Researchers have found that drinking green tea on a regular badsis can help your well being and alleviate stress ..so for us coffee drinkers – I challenge you to change at least one cup of coffee per day to green tea to help you relax!
-Can you say “NO”…of course in a polite way – Many people get stressed over the holidays out of obligation – therefore overscheduling their already busy schedule! Make it a priority to take care of yourself and only do the things that are most important to you, and you’ll see an amazing difference in your stress level!
-Love yourself! It’s important to make time – even a few minutes a day (there’s your meditation time!)…We all know the benefits of exercise and staying in a routine… but let’s not forget simply treating our bodies with care as well…That’ll help with the transition into our New Years Resolutions!
